INTERVIEW WITH JOSE PRENDES
Born in Venezuela while my Cuban parents were on vacation, we moved to Miami, fl a week later and I have been here ever since. My parents died when I was 5 years old, leaving me with new parents at the hands of my aunt and uncle. I attended catholic school all my life so I had a very strict up bringing, but my parents were easy-going and let me watch horror movies all the time...my dad was a big movie fan and that is how
I got into movies. Luckily, I met a lot of friends who liked movies to and so built life-long friendships.
I love John Carpenter stuff and the old Universal and AIP films...I thrive on old scary movies. But I also love Frank Capra movies, so all of my movies have a hint of humanity to them. The fact that you could affect millions of people make them laugh cry or scream, was amazing to me and that is why I want to make movies, to ENTERTAIN.
I aspire to what all great filmmakers aspire to, to be remembered as an entertainer first and foremost...I'd like them to say that I never let them down.
WHY MONSTER MAN?
Why not? you have to get your foot in the door somehow...I thought that maybe if they were laughing they wouldn't notice me slip in.
