YOU ARE A WOMAN AND YOU'VE BEEN IN SOME LOW-BUDGET HORROR FILMS. HOW OFTEN
DOES THE WORD "SCREAM QUEEN" COME UP?:
Well, I don't see myself as a "Scream
Queen". Yes, I've done some horror genre films. I've also been in over
fifteen plays produced here in New York City, worked on Soaps, on Comedy
Central, done interactive dinner theater, and was the spokesgirl for an
anti-smoking educational CD-Rom. I'm an actress. I don't want to be labelled
as anything except as someone who does good work.
WHAT IS THE WEIRDEST EXPERIENCE YOU'VE EVER HAD ON A FEATURE?:
The weirdest
experience, huh? Hmmmm, I've had a few…I would say eating in the restaurants
in Akron, Ohio while shooting Bookwalter's POLYMORPH and my cameo in
BLOODLETTING. They actually have potato chips listed as an appetizer on the
menus out there. Weird! What can I say, I'm a spoiled New Yorker. Also,
holding a handful of meal worms for ALIEN AGENDA: OUT OF THE DARKNESS was
weird and disgusting an experience I do not wish to repeat. As for VICOUS
SWEET-I felt like the character was written just like me. Except for the fact
that, thank God, I've never been abducted.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE HORROR MOVIES?:
Oh, where do I start? I love movies so
much!!! I love old fashioned slasher flicks like FRIDAY THE 13th and
HALLOWEEN. They still scare me to death. I'm a huge fan of David Lynch as
well. The big budget alien movies are a lot of fun, too. ALIEN, CLOSE
ENCOUNTERS, ET, FIRST CONTACT, INDEPENDENCE DAY and, of course, the end all
to be all of all sci-fi movies, STAR WARS. I think it's because they're more
fantasy than reality-you can pretty much assure yourself that what happens in
the movie won't ever happen to you. I'd rather find myself on an alien vessel
than be trapped in Jeffrey Dahmer's basement!
Q: You've gotten your start in movies through low-budget productions. Do you
see yourself working on them for a few more years?
GRAHAM: Absolutely! Low budget movies are great, in the fact that everyone is
involved for the love of the film. Trust me, you can't get a crew member or
actor to give up their weekend and spend ten hours on a set for little or no
pay if they don't absolutely love the fact that they are making a great
movie. Look at CLERKS, BROTHERS McMULLEN and WELCOME TO THE DOLLHOUSE.
America is finally ready and willing to accept low budget films. I think
there is much more room to take chances, break the rules, and create a really
fabulous film when you're doing an independent feature.
